Self-adhesive label printing is a specialty printing process. Generally, printing and post-printing processing are completed in a single operation on a label printing machine, meaning multiple processing steps are completed at several stations on one machine. Because it's an inline process, controlling the quality of self-adhesive label printing is a comprehensive printing and processing issue. It requires comprehensive consideration and implementation, including material selection, equipment configuration and control, and process route development. Furthermore, it's crucial to monitor the application of the labels at the customer's site to further improve product quality.

When selecting raw materials, it is essential to choose high-quality self-adhesive materials that meet all physical and chemical standards. Avoid using expired or unstable products. While the latter may be cheaper, their inconsistent quality leads to high consumption in each process, potentially causing equipment malfunctions. This wastes not only raw materials but also significant manpower and resources. Ultimately, the processing cost of the finished labels may not be low, and more seriously, it could result in customer returns or even the loss of customers.

Pre-press Processing

Firstly, regarding pre-press processing, many customer orders are designed primarily for offset or gravure printing. If flexographic printing is used on such originals, many quality issues will arise in the samples, such as inaccurate colors, unclear tonal range, and hard edges. Therefore, timely communication with the customer is essential to resolve these problems.

Plate Selection

Secondly, the selection of flexographic printing plates is also highly skillful. Professional plate-making personnel in printing companies have a thorough understanding of plate usage, halftone plate production, tonal transitions, dot gain compensation, and plate shrinkage. This not only benefits production but also allows for better control of quality parameters, avoiding human error and reducing defects.

Equipment Selection

Thirdly, due to the special nature of label printing, narrow-web flexographic printing equipment has significant advantages over letterpress and other types of flexographic printing equipment. Narrow-web flexographic printing equipment is not only simple to operate, but also offers high print quality and operational efficiency, strong versatility, and the ability to produce a wider variety of products, making it more competitive.
